Man, 22, shot dead after clash at Torit County dance

Authorities have confirmed the killing of a 22-year-old man following a disagreement at a traditional dance in Hiyala Payam, Torit County in Eastern Equatoria State on Monday.

The man was said to have died shortly before reaching the health facility, causing his kin to arm themselves ready for revenge, but were restrained by security agents.

Hiyala Payam Paramount Chief Galileo Ohide told Radio Tamazuj that the suspected killer was   at large and that the youth and security forces are working to ensure justice prevailed.

Ohide said tension was brewing in Hiyala as the family of the deceased were reportedly planning a revenge.

He said a disagreement arose between two people at the dance ground and a fight ensued, but they were seperated.

He explained that the deceased was later pursued and shot between some shops.

Torit County Commissioner Christopher Andrew confirmed the incident and said security agents were on the ground to enforce law and order.
