Malakia FC wins tournament in Juba, takes prize

A high pressure match between the two top Juba teams ended in victory for Malakal FC, making them champions of the MTN8 Cup and earning them a substantial cash reward.

A high pressure match between the two top Juba teams ended in victory for Malakal FC, making them champions of the MTN8 Cup and earning them a substantial cash reward.

Malakia (in red) took the lead over Atlabara (yellow and blue) in the first half with a penalty kicked scored by Thomas Jacob. In the 20th minute of the second half Khamis Lyon of Atlabara went out with a red card but in te 38th minute Atlabara’s Nigerian player Jacude scored a goal.

The regular time ended with a tie 1-1 and was decided by penalties 4-5 in Malakia’s favour.

Malakia FC took a price of SSP 250,000, Atlabara FC in second place took SSP175,000 and 3rd place Yei Central earned a prize of SSP75,000.

Kennedy Satrlino of Malakia was named the best goalkeeper in the tournament while Thomas Jacob also of Malakia was the best scorer. Liu Adra for Atlabara was named best coach of the tournament.
