Malakia beat Kator in solidarity match for Maridi Victims

Malakia FC (in red) on Wednesday won a match over Kator FC (in green) by 1-0. The match was organized by the Juba Football Association(JFA) in solidarity with the victims of the Maridi tanker explosion.

Approximately 200 people were killed and scores were seriously burned when the fuel tanker exploded in Maridi last week. Many were evacuated to Juba for treatment while others are still in Maridi.

Malakia's player Sadam Rebri scored the only goal of the match. Kator's coach Nicolas Peter says the goal came as a result of a mistake from Kator’s players, adding that the team will correct those mistakes in the next three JFP competitions.

The event was attended by the Mayor of Juba City Council, Christopher Sarafino Wani, who said that the match was a good initiative of JFA to support the victims of the Maridi incident. He thanked fans for attending the match and also urged them to donate blood.
