Malaika`s FC coach Michael Morris has urged South Sudanese to encourage more women to participate in sports, pointing to significant rise in women participating in football.

Malakia`s FC coach Michael Morris has urged South Sudanese to encourage more women to participate in sports, pointing to significant rise in women participating in football.

Coach Morris, who works with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of South Sudan, told Radio Tamazuj that women's football in South Sudan needs more attention.

“FIFA has called on all countries to involve women in sports. Countries with no women participation will not be represented in the FIFA cups,” he said.

“Currently women’s football match concentrates on the town of Wau and that is why you will find the majority of women football teams in Wau, Yambio and Yei. Insecurity has also affected the participation of women in sports,” he said.

Morris pointed out that they are working to encourage women to participate in the area of sports across the country.
