South Sudan’s government spokesman and Minister of Information and Broadcasting Michael Makuei Lueth walked out from Freedom Hall where the signing ceremony of a peace agreement was taking place this evening.
Makuei has been a vocal proponent of the government’s war efforts.
The minister was seen walking out of the ceremony looking unhappy and he was said to have headed home. Several other officials also appeared unhappy with the proceedings.
However, the SPLA Chief of Staff Paul Malong who was earlier rumored to be under house arrest, did arrive at the signing ceremony. Radio Tamazuj has reported that he opposed the deal vocally in recent government leadership meetings.
