Sudanese warplanes bombed the compound of a major national relief organization in the Nuba Mountains region, damaging buildings but causing no casualties.

Ali Shamela, Executive Director of the Nuba Relief, Rehabilitation and Development Organization (NRRDO), told Radio Tamazuj that eight bombs fell inside the organization’s compound on Monday morning.

The bombs caused significant damage to the headquarters of the organization, he said, but no one was hurt.

Shamela explained that his organization carries out relief and development projects aimed at more than 650,000 citizens in areas controlled by SPLM-North.

He pointed out that NRRDO is one of the only organizations working in the Nuba Mountains, explaining that the organization works in the fields of agriculture, education, health and food security.

Another recent airstrike targeted the Mother of Mercy Hospital in Gidel, which is managed by the Catholic Diocese of El Obeid. Two people were hurt by bombs there, and the home of the medical director of the hospital was damaged.
