Major General Akot Deng Akot has appointed a new state cabinet in Northern Bahr al Ghazal, dismissing some ministers while retaining others.

Akot is the third caretaker governor of the state since the former governor Paul Malong was appointed to the position of army chief of staff while retaining his political role as chairman of the SPLM state secretariat. He follows the “acting caretaker” Salva Chol, who succeeded Kuel Aguer.

According to a series of decrees he issued yesterday, the former Aweil South Commissioner Jeil Mangok Yel was appointed as political advisor to the state governor, Brig. Deng Tong Jok was appointed as security advisor, Stephen Ayaga was appointed as advisor on development and social service.

Aweil Mayor Debek Atak Longar was named parliamentary affairs minister replacing Daniel Akol Diing.

Garang Malong Awan took over the youth and sports ministry from Angui Diing Diing. Peter Akoon Maluil was appointed minister of finance and economic planning, replacing Ayii Bol Akol.

Akol Ayom Wek Ateny was appointed secretary-general of the state government replacing Abraham Wol Kom.

Deng Deng Akuei was appointed deputy governor and minister of law enforcement, replacing Salva Chol Ayat.

Peter Mathiang Ahoy was appointed minister of local government .

Angelo Akech Akeen was appointed minister of information and communication.

Ronald Ruay Deng was appointed minister of trade, industry, mining and investment.

Santino Wol Atak was appointed minister of agriculture and forestry.

Ernest Mangok Mangok was appointed minister of animal resources and fisheries.

Diing Aher Ngong was appointed head of the education commission.

Akon Wol Ayok was appointed head of the public service commission.

Akok Bol Akok was appointed head of the IDPs and repatriation chamber.

Andrew Lual Bona was appointed head of the land commission.

Zakeria Garang Lual was appointed head of the state revenue authority.

County Commissioners

The commissioner of Aweil North county, Major Kon Angok Kon was replaced with Capt. Atak Diing Wol while Kuol Athuai has been appointed as the state advisor on border issues.

Lt. Col Ngor Akok Ngor was replaced by Garang Aguer Achier the new commissioner of Aweil East county, succeeding Ngor Akok Ngor.

Also dropped was Lt.Col Deng Akot Ateny, the Aweil South commissioner and replaced by Deng Amoi.

William Ajongo Deng Ugnuech retained his position as county commissioner for Aweil Center while his Aweil West county counterpart Garang Kuach Ariath was replaced by Capt. Jacob Yel,

Lual Lual Ayok was appointed as town mayor replacing Jackline Nyibol Ajongo, deputized by Duang Deng Duang as deputy for development and planning and Anei Anei Juac, deputy for finance & administration.
