A large number of local residents in Magwi County in Eastern Equatoria State are fleeing to neighbouring Uganda and some shops were closed due to security concerns following the recent fighting in Juba, multiple sources told Radio Tamazuj.
The eyewitnesses said the closure of shops caused rising prices of essential commodities at the market in the county. They also pointed to panic among the local residents due to clashes on 9 July.
They revealed that Magwi citizens also fear armed men deployed outside the town and some other armed groups allegedly controlling Loponi area near the border with neighbouring Uganda.
