Members of the armed opposition group led by former First Vice-President Riek Machar are frustrated and disappointed after Angelina Teny did not turn up at the first meeting of the IGAD forum to revitalize the 2015 peace agreement in Addis Ababa today morning.
Angelina Teny, who is the wife of South Sudan’s prominent opposition leader Riek Machar and leading member of the movement, was appointed as member of the delegation to represent the opposition at meetings of the revitalization process.
Puok Both Baluang, the SPLM-IO’s director for information and public relations, confirmed to Radio Tamazuj that Angelina did not show up at today’s meeting ahead of the revitalization forum because her flight delayed in New York.
Puok blamed IGAD for delaying Angelina’s ticket to attend the meeting. “But we have confirmed that Madam Angelina has just received the ticket, so she will travel to Addis Ababa to attend the meetings of the revitalization forum,” he said.
He pointed out that the other members of the SPLM delegation had already arrived in Addis Ababa to attend the revitalization process.
Rebel leader Riek Machar delegated Henry Odwar as head of the delegation, also comprising of Elias Nyamlell and Angelina Teny.
