South Sudan’s vice president designate Riek Machar has failed to show up in Juba for the second day in a row after delaying his arrival yesterday owing to “logistical reasons.”

SPLM-IO officials in Juba as part of the Advance Team of the opposition group told journalists that Machar would not be coming today as planned. They said that the SPLA-IO chief of staff who was meant to fly to Juba ahead of Machar on a separate flight had not obtained flight clearances.

The government spokesperson plans to hold a press conference shortly to explain their position.
