The newly appointed Commissioner of Maban County in South Sudan, Baggari Langa, yesterday admitted that there are security challenges facing the refugees from Blue Nile in refugee camps along the Sudanese border and pledged to try to resolve such problems.
Langa told Radio Tamazuj that the threats in al-Jamaam, Doro, and Yusuf Patel camps include repeated theft and assault on the refugees, among other crimes.
He claimed that his office is fully committed to decisively tackling these challenges and pointed to the use of consultation with both civil and military authorities as well as traditional leadership in the camps to try to better understand the source of these problems and deal with criminal elements.
Commissioner Langa added, “…there are some people who are committing two to three criminal cases and we heard about them even before we came here.”
