Low enrolment at Bahr El Ghazal University

Financial constraints have affected students of Bahr El Ghazal University resulting in low turnout for the 2013-2014 academic year registration, reported Voice of Hope, the Catholic radio station in Wau.

The new academic secretary, Paul Malesh Benjamin, said students from the other states did not turn up for registration because of the long distances.

He said registration of the first year students had started in mid July

The university official emphasized that education should be a priority and the country needs educated people to realize development.

He asked parents to help their children in continue with their education and called on all people to encourage education in the country despite challenges.

Lectures for all colleges will start in late September.
