Dozens of stranded foreigners at Yida refugee camp face a long wait for a flight out as they fear the situation in the area could potentially worsen yet again.
In spite of the resumption of some flights last week, bringing in returning aid workers, many other people still waiting to leave have not found a way out, while road travel to the south remains impossible owing to insecurity.
A number of mostly Sudanese, Somalis and Kenyans at the airstrip told Radio Tamazuj that they have been waiting for means of evacuation to their home countries, pointing out that most flights by humanitarian organizations stopped since the outbreak of conflict in the country.
They further noted that the only flight which is regularly operating is a government airplane which is not able to evacuate the stranded people.
Unity State hosted thousands of foreigners, not only aid workers but also traders. Many of them complain of loss of their properties as a result of the ongoing conflicts in the region.
