‘Lol State’ MP vows to work closely with Governor Rizig

Members of parliament hailing from the newly declared ‘Lol State’ and originally from Northern Bahr al Ghazal said that they would work closely with their new Governor Rizig Hassan.

Members of parliament hailing from the newly declared ‘Lol State’ and originally from Northern Bahr al Ghazal said that they would work closely with their new Governor Rizig Hassan.

Achak Thiep Thiep, the spokesperson for parliamentarians from the Northern Bahr al Ghazal counties to be merged with Raja County, says they were ready to work with the newly appointed governor, stressing that there would not be any objections from the MPs to support the Governor.

This statement comes after Raja County traditional authorities rejected to be merged with Aweil North and West counties to form the new Lol State. President Salva Kiir sought to ease fears about the merger by appointing Rizig, who originally hails from Raja County, as the area’s new governor.

Rizig Haasan is the former Governor of Western Bahr el Ghazal state. He was removed from this position when President Salva Kiir on Christmas Eve declared Western Bahr al Ghazal ‘defunct’ and appointed Rizig to the governorship of the new, smaller, Lol State.

“We will work closely hand in hand to deliver the services to the people. We are sure, he is very creative, he will do more than before. So we have no any option. So he will work with us basing on what we are going to do as to the delivering of services to our people. So we are very happy and there is no any objection,” said Achak.
