Lol state denies forced transfer of public servants to Raja

Authorities in South Sudan’s proposed Lol state have denied forcibly transferring public servants from Wau to work in Raja.

Authorities in South Sudan’s proposed Lol state have denied forcibly transferring public servants from Wau to work in Raja.

After the order to create 28 states, many civil servants were told they had to leave their jobs in Way and transfer them to Raja.

“Any worker or employee who wants to go and work there because it is a new state can take his file and go to apply on the state. No one will be forced to go and work in Raja if he wants to stay and work here,” said Omer Eshag, Chairperson of State Affairs in Lol.

Kalisto Julius, a local government official criticized how the civil servants were divided, saying that it was important to ensure that the transfer of employees does not cause tension between Wau and Raja states.

“The transferring of employees is not done geographically but administratively in order to divide their position between the two states so that they cannot cause losses” said Julius.
