Mayol Akok Mayol, newly appointed deputy governor in South Sudan’s Lol state has welcomed his appointment, dispelling allegations he would not accept the appointment.
Mayol confirmed in an interview with Radio Tamazuj on Sunday that he has been appointed and welcomed it. “Yes, I confirm that I have been appointed as deputy governor of Lol state and I welcomed it,” he said.
“It is a call by the people and if the leadership of my party and our people see it is time I should go and serve them, I have no objection to make. I cannot turn down what they decided I should do. So I am ready to take up the assignment in order to move forward with delivery of services and unity of our people,” he added.
Lol state governor Rizik Zachariah Hassan on Friday issued several orders in which he appointed deputy governor and several members of parliament from different areas.
Mayol replaced Lual Dau Marach who resigned from the position in May and left the country.
