The governor of Lol state, one of South Sudan’s newly created states, has said the general security situation is stable in the area.

In a statement to South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) after meeting President Kiir in Juba on Tuesday, Governor Rizik downplayed the significance of rebel activities, saying they are no longer posing any security threat to the town after the government deployed troops to the area in May.

“I came to brief the president on the general situation in the state, which is normal. It is under control. The relations between the police, security organs, and SPLA forces in the area have greatly improved,” said Rizik.
