Rizik Zachariah Hassan, governor of Lol state has announced creation of additional three new counties and subsequently appointed new officials, raising the number of administrative units to 14 counties.
Governor Rizik, according to October 6 order but which became public over the weekend, upgraded Ariath payam into a status of a county and appointed Lual Makok as the county commissioner with Ariath town as the administrative headquarters of the new county.
Other official appointed by the order were Joseph Garang Deng Maker as Commissioner of Korok Center County with Mayen Ulem as the headquarters and Thomas Thiep Bol as Commissioner of Gumguer Center with Nyamlel town as the administrative headquarters of the area.
In June, the governor of the proposed Lol State which came into existence after President Kiir unilaterally dissolved the Western Bahr al Ghazal State government and expanded the number of states to 28 states in breach of the 2011 transitional constitution and peace agreement, issued a gubernatorial decree appointing 11 county commissioners.
The June order appointed Col Elamin Ahmed Janga as the county commissioner for Ere. Other officials include Lt Col Arkangelo Vestus Nimour for Diem Zubeir, Garang Tong Thiang for Malual West, Lt Col. Marko Mayol Maduok for Gomjuer West, Maj Stephen Bak for Marialbaai, Capt Anei Wal Achien for Korok West, 1st Lt. Garang Bol Ateny for Maper Dut Thou, Anei Anei Juac for Malual North, Peter Dut Akot for Gomjuer East, Lt. Col Akok Akok Kuc for Majak Baai and Eisa Hussein for Boro
