The chairperson of Torit Peace and Reconciliation Commission says those involved in clashes between the Logiri and Pari communities last month must be prosecuted.
In March, the two rival communities clashed during a cattle raid, claiming at least 20 lives while many others were wounded.
German Charles Ojok told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that the people involved in those clashes must be brought to book for peace to reign.
“If people really want peace, those who are perpetrators must face the law. It is a must that is why the police are there, investigations are going on to identify people involved in the killings and one day they will be arrested and they will have to face the law. The government is working on that,” he said.
He pointed out that the peace commission in collaboration with other partners is engaging the two communities for possible future peace dialogue.
“Already we have a team led by peace commission from UNMISS, they did a consultation in the side of Logiri and those of Logiri accepted peace. Before they went to Pacidi, heavy rains started and they were forced to come back. But up to now there is still a plan for them to go; they must go to Pacidi,” he added.
Charles advised the two communities to find peaceful means to resolve their differences and allow for peaceful coexistence, as the government continues with investigations.
