Unknown gunmen shot and killed a local trader on the Tambura-Yambio road last week, an official said Tuesday.
The state information minister, Anikumbo Mathew Aime told Radio Tamazuj Charles Batu was killed in the Ringasi area of Gbudue State.
The deceased, he said, was heading to Tambura State from Yambio.
Anikumbo described the incident as an isolated case and urged the public not to panic as the perpetrators would be brought to book.
The minister, however, promised to work together with Gbudue State authorities to ensure such an incident does not happen again.
“The government is going to collaborate with neighbouring Gbudue State where the incident took place to ensure the perpetrators are brought to book,” he stressed.
The official condemned the attack in the strongest terms, saying Tambura State government would not tolerate such barbaric acts.
He said no one has been arrested in connection with the killing.
