The Wadi Hawar Global Humanitarian Services Organization is delivering aid to displaced persons and war refugees in the Zamzam camp and various sheltering houses in Al-Fasher in Sudan’s North Darfur State.

Al-Fasher is currently experiencing severe humanitarian challenges due to ongoing conflicts and a siege by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) which has led to mass displacement of citizens fleeing the city.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday in Al-Fasher, Engineer Anwar Khatir, the organization’s representative, said they have stepped in to fill the gap left by the withdrawal of international, regional, and national organizations.

“We are providing humanitarian services to all displaced persons and those fleeing recent conflicts, focusing primarily on North Darfur, especially in the Zamzam camp and sheltering houses in Al-Fasher,” he revealed.

Eng. Khatir noted that the organization’s primary effort is now directed towards supplying clean drinking water to the displaced, distributing approximately eighty barrels daily across various locations and neighborhoods. He emphasized that Wadi Haar is the only organization remaining after the departure of other groups, highlighting a significant shortfall and the doubled number of displaced persons.

He acknowledged the difficulty of the current situation with the continuous influx of displaced people, expressing the immense suffering and numerous needs of these individuals.

Khatir urged international, regional, and national organizations, as well as philanthropists, to support the displaced wherever they are.

Tayseer Abdallah Al-Tahir, a displaced woman, expressed gratitude for the water provided by the organization but noted that it is insufficient for a large number of displaced people. She appealed to benefactors and organizations to provide more water, as it is essential for life, thanking Wadi Hawar Global Organization for their efforts.

For his part, William Cole, a South Sudanese refugee and head of the Refugee Services Committee, also thanked the Wadi Hawar Global Organization for their services following the displacement of people from the Al-Banjadid camp to the Zamzam camp. He praised the local community for hosting them and the organization for supplying water and called for urgent intervention by other organizations to provide shelter materials and healthcare services.
