Four men and one woman were killed in Katigiri in Central Equatoria State by SPLA forces loyal to President Salva Kiir shortly after a fact-finding team left the area, according to local authorities who are in hiding in various parts of the rural area.
The authorities explained that the deceased had been locked inside when the state government fact-finding team was in the area and then were pulled out and executed soon after they left the place.
The soldiers who killed them accused them of being rebels even though they are civilians.
This brings the number of reported killings after the fact-finding mission left the area to six.
In another incident, a woman in her sixties identified as Ekelia Poni has been taken for medical treatment after being beaten by soldiers together with her granddaughter aged 3.
The incident occurred at the onset of the conflict in Wonduruba while she was at her farm. People close to the woman said the three year old was hurt in the forehead.
Both victims were admitted to Lainya health unit before being transferred to a hospital where they are recovering. Relatives said the old woman told them that soldiers argued as to whether she should be killed or not.
The old woman was quoted to be saying some army officers objected to killing old people, which saved her life.
