The commissioner of Amenhaguok County in the disputed territory of Abyei between Sudan and South Sudan said thousands of people are suffering due to lack of clean drinking water in the area.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, Chol Adhol said citizens in Amiet and Amenhaguok areas have resorted to drink unsafe water from wells due to lack of clean water in the area.

He added that about 40 wells were dug by some aid organizations but the population is growing. He called on aid organizations to dig more boreholes for the people of Abyei.
