Local official in Bentiu: Thousands of people left UN PoC Site

The Minister of Information in South Sudan proposed Northern Liech state, Lam Tungwar, has claimed that 27,000 displaced people have left the UN PoC site in Bentiu so far.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Tungwar said the situation in Bentiu is stable which encouraged thousands of displaced people who fled to UN camps during the war to return to their homes.

“27 people have left to their home areas and we are in coordination with the UNMISS officials,” said Tungwar.

He pointed that some displaced people have gone to their original home areas outside Bentiu town, including Mayom and Koch counties and other areas, while others returned to the town.

The minister said the health situation is not good in the camp and added that he expects all the displaced people to leave to their home areas soon.
