A lion killed one person in Aweil East County in an attack believed to have taken place several days ago, according to a local official.

A wildlife official said that the victim was attacked in Awan area about 3 kilometers away from any residences while traveling alone on foot and allegedly also while drunk.

“My message to people: one person is not allowed whether drunk or not to walk on that road alone because that is a territory of lions and citizens must protect themselves,” he said.
