Kong Tap, the acting commissioner of Leer County told Radio Tamazuj Wednesday that the deceased identified as Nyawura Bellew took her own life by hanging on a tree after a disagreement with her brothers.

“This girl who killed herself quarreled with her two brothers over her suitor who wanted to forcefully marry her, but the family insisted that the person cannot give them enough cattle,” he said. “Following the accusations, she decided to kill herself in the forest.” 

The local official revealed that two of the late’s brothers and a third man were arrested for investigations. 

“The police have arrested the three suspected men connected to the death of the deceased. The investigation is going on over the quarrel that led to the suicide,” he said. “The details of what caused her to commit suicide are still being investigated by the police who went to the scene at the forest of Juong payam.”
