Speaking to foreign journalists on Thursday, Ghandour, who is also the NCP deputy chairman, said the security concerns in some hot spot areas haven’t affected the electoral process. He added voter turnout in the states was plausible.

The leading NCP member announced his government’s readiness for the National Dialogue with the opposition and armed movements.

South Kordofan

A source told Radio Tamazuj that Sudanese airplanes were seen hovering over Kadugli town yesterday, besides heavy deployment of government forces in the morning until midday.

A sound of explosion was also heard southwest of the town. Several sources hinted that clashes could have erupted between the government troops and SPLA-North rebels around Kadugli after seeing ambulances moving in the town.

UNICEF Sudan recently condemned the continued loss of innocent lives in Sudan as a result of armed conflict.

In a press release, the UN Children Fund called on all armed forces and groups in the country to respect child rights.

“Children continue to bear the biggest burden of the man-made disaster in South Kordofan,” reads the statement. The UN agency said ten children aged between two and 15 years were killed in the last two weeks in South Kordofan.
