Security forces in Sudan’s South Darfur state on Saturday have arrested dozens leaders from the Fallata and Salamat tribes following clashes mid-month.

Al-Samani Yusuf, the paramount chief of the Fallata tribe told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that the state authorities have sent military forces to the area between Talas and Buram localities.

He added that the authorities have arrested more than 30 people from his tribe among them chiefs and elders from Rajaj area on Saturday and they were transferred to Nyala town.

Al-Samani said the authorities have arrested these people without informing them, which he said will lead to instability in the area.

He revealed that some leaders from the Salamat tribe were also arrested. The paramount chief said the conflict between the two tribes will be resolved through the resolutions of Buram peace conference held last year.

He also blamed the government for failure to implement the resolutions of the peace conference.
