Juba lawyer Gabriel Kuot Akok on Thursday vowed to continue with a suit against the Warrap State Government over the extrajudicial killings.
Last Month, the Justice and Constitutional Affairs Ministry gave the Warrap State Governor 14 days to give a comprehensive report about alleged extrajudicial killings or face prosecution, which the governor failed to honor.
The ultimatum came after Akok had notified the ministry of his intention to sue the State Government over a law called the Green Book that allows killing by a firing squad.
However, on Wednesday night, the Warrap State Governor Kuol Muor Muor, who enacted the Green Book into law, was removed from his position by President Salva Kiir.
Akok told Radio Tamazuj that he would continue with the suit despite the removal of Muor Muor.
He revealed that he was still waiting for the opinion of the Justice Minister to proceed with the suit.
“I was expecting this morning or today to check with them and to collect the legal opinion that will pave the way if I am given the greenlight,” the lawyer said.
He said once he got the legal opinion, he would proceed with the case despite that fact that the governor who enacted the law had been removed.
