The body of the former governor of Greater Equatoria Region General Peter Cirillo Swaka will arrive in Juba on Thursday from the Kenyan capital Nairobi where he passed away.

General Peter Cirillo Swaka, died on 30th October in his home in Nairobi at the age of 87.

According to the family, he died of health complications arising from Alzheimer which he suffered for long.
 
Speaking during the funeral prayer in Nairobi on Wednesday, a South Sudan government representative and member of the national assembly Honorable Prof. Paul Jumi said once the body arrives in Juba, it will be brought to the national assembly on Friday for officials to pay their last respects.
 
The family said the late will be laid to rest in his village of Gwudu’ge of Rejaf County.

Gen. Peter Cirilo is among the founding leaders of Anyanya One Movement and has held numerous positions in the army and government until his death.

The late a brother to opposition leader General Thomas Cirillo of the National Salvation Front is survived by his second wife, 11 children, and 17 grandchildren. His first wife died earlier.
 
Swaka has been eulogized as an icon, a man of integrity, pinnacle and liberation hero.
