The body of late Alison Monani Magaya, former minister of interior and head of South Sudan’s embassy to Switzerland, will be taken to Western Equatoria State for burial. The bodd was brought today to the Legislative Assembly in Juba for tribute before being taken to Yambio.
Magaya died last week in Geneva, Switzerland.
Speaking on Tuesday at parliament before the mourners, President Salva Kiir Mayardit says the country has lost a great man. “We have gathered here this morning to give farewell to our hero, the man who fought for South Sudan.”
He said late Magaya participated in his training as a young officer during the Anya-Nya One rebellion. Kiir described late Magaya as as a man who was accessible to everybody whether small or big.
The event was also attended by Joseph Lagu, leader of the Anya-Nya one movement, among other senior government officials.
