The body of Jonglei State assembly speaker Charles Manyang Awuol will be flown to Juba on Thursday, state officials say.
Late Manyang died at the age of 77 in the Kenyan capital Nairobi last Saturday.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, Jacob Akech Dengdit, a relative to the deceased and the state advisor on youth affairs, said the late died of cancer and his body will be flown to Juba on Thursday pending burial arrangements.
Meanwhile, Jonglei governor Maker Thiong Maal eulogized the late as a great leader.
“The late Ambassador Manyang is a national figure. He served in both Sudan and South Sudan governments. He is an honest, eloquent and well-educated leader whose death is a great loss to all of us,” he said.
He pointed out that the state declared three days of mourning with flags flying at half-mast in honor of the leader.
