At least three members of the Popular Defense Forces (PDF) were killed and several others wounded in a landmine explosion in Rashad town in Sudan’s South Kordofan State on Tuesday morning.
Multiple sources told Radio Tamazuj that the incident took place at the northern checkpoint in Rashad town when a group of government soldiers including PDF members were moving with a lorry.
The explosion killed three soldiers on the spot and wounded several others and destroyed the lorry. The wounded people were taken to hospital for treatment.
Separately, local sources said explosions were also heard throughout the day yesterday, while a military aircraft was seen hovering over Abu Kershola especially in the southeast of the town.
Fighting has continued for the last several days in South Kordofan between government troops and the SPLA-North rebels.
