Over 30 soldiers have defected from the National Salvation Front (NAS) led by Gen. Thomas Cirillo and joined the National Democratic Movement (NDM) under Lam Akol in Kapoeta East, a spokesman for Lam’s group said.

Over 30 soldiers have defected from the National Salvation Front (NAS) led by Gen. Thomas Cirillo and joined the National Democratic Movement (NDM) under Lam Akol in Kapoeta East, a spokesman for Lam’s group said.

Emmanuel Aban, a spokesman for the National Democratic Movement, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that over 30 soldiers led by Brigadier General Yusuf Lopipi defected to their side in Kapoeta East on Saturday.

The defected soldiers, according Aban, said that the opposition group led by Thomas Cirillo lacks political programs and military plans to fight Kiir’s administration in Juba.

For its part, Simon Karlo, a senior commander of the National Salvation Front in Kapoeta East denied Aban’s claims.
