Speaking shortly after the swearing-in of the newly appointed officials, Governor Tueny urged them to promote peace, embrace good governance and democracy through enforcement of law and order and deliver basic services to Lakes State citizens.

“You should maintain rule of law and order and embrace democracy for good governance. Our state policy is also to protect the people and their properties. We must work on this. If we maintain security and there is peace then development will follow,” Governor Tueny said.  “And development starts with agriculture for all for food security. If there is food security, health and education will automatically follow.”

He added: “So, now you have been sworn in and you have the power to implement these objectives for the good of our innocent people. I caution you against abusing power.”

Meanwhile, the acting speaking of the Lakes State legislature, Ayen Meen Ador, appealed for collaborative work between the arms of government in order to promote and maintain peace and security in the state.

“We have three pillars of government which includes the executive, judiciary, and legislature and they should work collaboratively,” she said.

The state minister of local government and law enforcement agencies, Chol Kuotwel Manhom, pledged to work with the governor and other officials for the benefit of the people of the state.

“We will work openly and judiciously with everybody in the state so that our people get to learn how to solve their own problems and define their destiny,” Minister Kuotwel said. “The mission of protecting lives of our people and their property is not a matter of choice, it is mandatory and all of us have this responsibility as sons and daughters of this state.”
