The ministry of physical infrastructure, lands, housing, and public utilities in Lakes State and the office of the commissioner of Awerial County on Monday launched an exercise to survey land and allot plots in Mingkaman Town in Awerial County.

This is the first time such an exercise is being undertaken in Awerial County.

Awerial County Commissioner Philip Mawut Garang told Radio Tamazuj Monday that the survey and allotment of plots in Mingkaman is part of the state government’s policy to embark on the development of roads in all the counties in Lakes State.

“We are here to launch the survey of land and allotment of plots in Mingkaman Town with the state minister of physical infrastructure, lands, housing, and public utilities,” he said. “We are focusing on development that is why we are here to survey quickly. We are done with security in Lakes State and we are looking forward to quality education and agriculture.”

Mawut thanked Africa Resource Corporation Ltd and the state government for immensely contributing to the success of the exercise.

For his part, the state’s minister of physical infrastructure, lands, housing, and public utilities, Mawet Manuer Kok, said Mingkaman town and Awerial County are strategic trading areas which is why the state government prioritized its survey.

“This county is very important for many citizens in South Sudan because it is a market center as some of you know Guolyar and Mingkaman very well,” he said. “So, we need support and we need investors to come and invest in Mingkaman because it has a lot of resources from which the country can benefit. Fish can be taken from here to Juba and other places. The communities in the area are very cooperative and the survey is ongoing smoothly.”

Minister Manuer, said he will spend ten days in Awerial County to see that the survey is completed because the area is big.

“The commissioner wants more areas to be surveyed because the county will benefit from allotment of plots to all citizens of South Sudan,” he said. “All citizens who are willing to come to Awerial County for plots are most welcome and we will give them land so that they build South Sudan.”
