Lakes State governor Makur Kulang has directed all soldiers to report to their respective units ahead of the disarmament exercise in the state.
Kulang made the remarks on Thursday last week upon his return to Rumbek town after a three-day tour of the counties to enlighten communities on the disarmament process.
Speaking to reporters in Rumbek, the state governor said the disarmament exercise due for August 10, would not be extended or postponed.
He said he toured all counties in the state to enlighten communities on the voluntary disarmament, assuring that it would be peaceful.
"Another reason for touring counties on the main highway up to Aluakaluak was to ensure the youth stop unnecessary road ambushes. Next time, I will go to Cueibet County,” he added.
Kulang condemned last week’s clashes that occurred between the Nyang and Amothnhom sections in Rumbek Centre County.
"There is no reason to continue killing each other because of simple matters which can be solved by two people in just a minute. Allowing animals to pass cannot make people lose their lives like that. There was no reason at all,” Kulang explained.
At least six people were killed and one wounded in the intercommunal violence at Patuweng cattle in Rumbek Centre County.
