Representatives of the sit-in protesters in Lagawa in Sudan’s West Kordofan met the State Governor Ahmed Khamis last week, a youth activist said.

A member of the protesting youths, who preferred anonymity, told Radio Tamazuj that the meeting was held after the team returned from the capital Khartoum where they failed to meet the Second Vice President Hassabo Mohamed Abdul-Rahaman.

He said the Governor reiterated his commitment to implement the development projects needed by the protesters, but on condition of calling off the sit-in protests immediately. He said the protesters rejected the condition.

The youth activist said complaining citizens decided to boycott the upcoming elections slated for April 2015 if their demands are not fulfilled.

The sit-in protest by Lagawa citizens reached its 68th day on Saturday. The protesters are calling for better basic services from the government.
