Lack of vehicles hampers Gogrial police

Police in Gogrial State have a serious shortage of vehicles, reducing their ability to combat and probe crime effectively.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, the state police commissioner, Major Gen. John Baak Alphonse said despite their commitment to maintain security in the area, shortage of vehicles undermines the response capacity of police and weakens investigative and detective work.

He said the state consists of more than 30 counties, making it hard for the police to fight criminal activities all the time. “The state police headquarters owns only one vehicle which is used all the time,” Baak said.

“All our operations are implemented on foot because we don’t have vehicles, so this is the challenge facing us,” he stressed.

The senior police officer said they would do their best to protect civilians and their properties, despite the challenges they are facing.

He appealed to the national government to support the state police.
