The worker’s union in South Sudan’s Western Bahr al Ghazal State complained about low wages in the public sector in the state.
Chairman of the Workers’ Union Donato Agali told Radio Tamazuj that the wages in the state were very low compared to other states in South Sudan.
“We want the wages to be unified. What is paid to a worker in Western Bahr al Ghazal should be equal to what is paid to any worker in other state of South Sudan,” he said.
He called on the national government in Juba to look into the matter, while calling upon the state government to increase the salaries. The workers’ complaint coincides with Labour Day which is celebrated around the world on 1 May.
