Korok West commissioner warns of looming starvation

The number of people suffering from starvation is rising after floods hit Korok West County in South Sudan’s Lol State, a local official said.

Korok County Commissioner Michael Mathok Wal told Radio Tamazuj on Saturday that crops in the area were affected by floods.

He further said preliminary data available in the county indicates that the number of people affected by starvation will increase further next year.

He appealed to the national government in Juba and humanitarian organizations to intervene as soon as possible.
