A large force of military police were deployed earlier today around the residence of Clement Wani Konga, the ousted governor of Central Equatoria.

Major General Akec Adim, who is the head of military police at the SPLA headquarters, was seen briefing soldiers around the residence of Konga today.

Movement into Juba is reportedly restricted. People on foot are subjected to rigorous searches and physical checks from head to toe being carried out at various entry points. Security sources involved in these operations claim it is part of normal and routine security measures to maintain law and order in and around Juba.

Clement Wani Konga hails from Terekeka, Central Equatoria. His replacement is also a native of the area, which is inhabited by the Mundari tribe. The governor speaking on SSTV earlier today called for calm and accepted his removal.
