The governor of South Sudan’s Northern Liech State has summoned Koch County Commissioner Gordon Kun to answer questions after the recent deadly attack on Mayendit County in neighboring Southern Liech State, a state official said.

Lam Tungwar, Information Minister in the proposed Northern Liech State, told Radio Tamazuj that the two state governments are working jointly to investigate the incident.

“The two governors are working to investigate the matter, they will also find out the cause, so all these thing are unclear, I will provide the details later” said Lam.

He pointed out that investigations are under way, saying the Koch County Commissioner went to Bentiu town after being summoned by Governor Joseph Nguen Monytuil.

Last week, at least 46 people including Mayendit County Commissioner were killed and 30 others injured in an attack by gunmen in Rubkuai area.

Several officials claimed that the attackers were sent by the government-appointed Koch County Commissioner Gordon Kun after the Southern Liech government had asked for reinforcement from Northern Liech authorities last month.
