The King of Morocco, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, is expected to arrive in South Sudan on Friday for a three-day official visit aimed at broadening cordial relations between the two countries, a spokesman for the government said.
Speaking after a news conference on Wednesday, Michael Makuei Lueth, Minister of Information and Government Spokesman, announced that the King of Morocco will arrive in the capital Juba on Friday, saying the visit aims at deepening the existing bilateral relations between South Sudan and Morocco.
“The Council of Ministers listened to the report on the preparation for the visit of the King of Morocco to the Republic of South Sudan. The King of Morocco is expected to visit the Republic of South Sudan from 20th to 23rd of this month,” said Makuei.
The official pointed out that the preparations are in place to receive the visiting king and that all the documents to be signed have already been prepared and negotiated. “This visit will start on 20th with a popular and official reception at the international airport in Juba,” he said.
The government spokesman pointed out that the visiting King of Morocco will hold talks with President Sava Kiir and other government officials on issues of mutual interest between the two countries.
According to Makuei, Morocco’s King will be accompanied on his trip by advisers and ministers to discuss issues pertaining to consolidation of bilateral relations with South Sudan.
“The King is coming with a very high-level delegation of 22 advisors and ministers. These are different teams that will come and discuss with the line ministries all issues concerned, and this is where all the necessary preparations will be done for signing of MOUs on various fields,” he said.
Makuei noted that King Mohammed VI has already donated a medical clinic at Dr. John Garang Mausoleum.
