Kiir visits Khama in Botswana

A high-level South Sudan delegation headed by President Salva Kiir and national Ministers has been in Botswana since Monday for talks on bilateral relations between the two countries.

According to the presidency reporter Thomas Kennedy, the delegation went to discuss multiple issues pertaining to health, education, natural resources management among others. He said that Presiden Kiir and Botswana’s President Ian Khama discussed how the two countries can cooperate with each other in these fields, he told Radio Tamazuj.

Speaking at the Botswana capital of Gaborone, President Kiir appreciated the long-standing cooperation

Botswana’s Khama praised president Kiir for assuming South Sudan’s Presidency since independence and for making what he described as “an economic road map” for the people of South Sudan.

“I have noted with admiration your government’s ongoing efforts in mapping the cause of social economic development in your country, in order to uplift the living standards of the South Sudan people. I wish to assure you of our commitment to continue supporting your efforts in your pursuit to deliver the promise of independence for the people of South Sudan,” Khama said.

The ministers who accompanied President Kiir include Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister, Nhial Deng Nhial; Minister in the Office of the President, Emmanuel La Willa; Minister of National Security, Uyai Deng Ajak; Health Minister Michael Hussein; Minister of Commerce, Investment and Industry Garang Diing Akuong; Minister of General Education Joseph Ukel Abanga, and Minister of Animal Resources Fisheries, Elia Lomoro.
