Kiir transfers senior police officers from tax unit

South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir on Friday evening ordered the return of all police officers from the ranks of brigadier and above to the South Sudan National Police Services Headquarters.

The order on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Cooperation (SSBC), did not explain the rationale behind the transfer, but instead quoted the South Sudan Revenue Authority Act 2023.

In other decrees, Kiir relived Brig Aduot Ajang Aduot, the Commissioner for Customs and Revenue Division of the South Sudan Revenue Authority of his duties.

The President also removed Rachael Nyadak Paul, from the board of directors of the South Sudan Revenue Authority and replaced her with Mary Paul Ngundeng.  

Kiir appointed technical advisors, including Rachael Nyadak Paul, Ministry of Peace Building, Albino Chol Thiik, Ministry of Investment, Mayen Wol Jong, Ministry of Petroleum and Aggrey Tisa Sabuni, the South Sudan Revenue Authority.

In other decrees, Kiir revoked the appointment of Angelina Aweng, Abraham Akon, Garang Chan Atak, Ajar Mataya Maringa and James Jiel Teng, all of  SPLM-IO, and Ariek Akot Awutiek of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA), as Members of Parliament in Northern Bahr el-Ghazal State.

He appointed Santino Garang Awek, Philip Akok Deng Kuei, Awaya Makuei, and Theresa Alor Adup Athiang, all of SPLM-IO, and Abuk Reech Kuol, (SSOA), as the replacements.
