President Salva Kiir Mayardit is set to travel to Bor in Jonglei state on Thursday to inaugurate a building at the Dr. John Garang Memorial University of Science and Technology.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit is set to travel to Bor in Jonglei state on Thursday to inaugurate a building at the Dr. John Garang Memorial University of Science and Technology.

Several officials in Jonglei State confirmed that preparations are already in place to welcome and host the president for the function.

In a telephone interview with Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday evening, the Jonglei State information minister, John Samuel Manyuon, confirmed plans to receive the president on Thursday.

“Tomorrow (Thursday), the president is coming to the state headquarters of Bor to inaugurate a building at the Dr. John Garang Memorial University of Science and Technology,” he said. “It is the main purpose why the president is coming and it is actually a fresh construction that has taken place.”

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Abraham Matoc, also confirmed tomorrow’s function at the institution without divulging details.

“Yes, they are actually going to be inaugurating the university tomorrow,” he said.

Several government officials including Lakes State Governor Riny Tueny have already arrived in Bor according to sources on the ground.

Among other dignitaries that are expected to travel with the president on Thursday is Information Minister Michael Makuei.

According to Jonglei State officials, the just completed building has been under construction for some time.
