South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir will retake the oath of office on 8 July 2015 for another three years as amended by the constitution, his spokesperson said Wednesday.
Presidential spokesperson Ateny Wek Ateny said in a press conference that the president will relieve his entire cabinet and appoint caretakers including governors in the states. He said the new cabinet will be a broad-based government that will involve all political parties.
The national parliament recently amended South Sudan’s constitution to extend Kiir’s term by another three years. Wek said that on 8 July a “new government altogether” will be formed before the expiry of the current one on midnight that night.
