South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Monday evening sacked the Chief Administrator in the Office of the President and announced a replacement.

In a decree aired on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Cooperation (SSBC), Kiir dismissed Yel Kuol Kur and announced Daniel Madit Malek as the new Chief Administrator in the Office of the President.

It is not clear why the president fired Kuol, who is an ex-convict who served time at the Juba National Prison for embezzling funds from the president`s office while he served as the Executive Director there.

Kuol was appointed only in December 2023 as Chief Administrator in the Office of the President.
