South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir on Tuesday night issued a decree removing Aweil state governor and appointing a new official.
The decree read out on the state-run South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC), saw Aweil state governor Ronald Ruay Deng removed and Yournew Wol Kuot appointed.
No reason was cited in the order for the removal of Governor Ruay Deng.
Ruay, who is a staunch supporter of Gen. Paul Malong Awan, former SPLA chief of general staff, was one of the officials from the Aweil community who travelled to Yirol where Malong was blocked from going to Aweil shortly after being removed by President Kiir recently.
Kiir also issued another decree appointing deputy chief of defense force, inspector general,
assistants to the chief of defense force, commanders and deputy
commanders of forces of the SPLA.
The appointed generals are:
Lt.Gen. Malek Ruben Riak – Deputy Chief of Defense Force/ Inspector of the SPLA
Lt. Gen. Malual Ayom Dor – Assistant Chief of Defense force for
Operations, Training and Intelligent
Lt. Gen. Mangar Boung Alueng – Assistant Chief of Defense Force for
Administration, Personnel & Finance
Lt. Gen. Gabriel Jok Riak- Assistant Chief of Defense Force for Logistics
and Procurement
Lt. Gen. Charles Lam Chol – Commander of the Air Force and Air defense Force
Lt. Gen. Marial Chinoung Yol – Commander of the Ground Force
Lt. Gen. James Gai Yoah – Commander of Riverine Unit
Lt. Gen. James Kok Kok – Deputy Commander of Air Force & Air Defense
Lt Gen Johnson Juma Okot – Deputy Commander of Ground Force
In another decree, Kiir appointed two commissioners in the South Sudan Human Rights
Commission.
